How does the Atolla Skin Health Plan work?

Expand Icon

Your personalized plan is always tailored to your unique skin goals. Here’s how it works:

  1. START: Fill out our quick and easy initial assessment with your main skin issues, routine, lifestyle, and environment. Our predictive model will use this info to design a custom starter serum made with ingredients that address your top skin concerns.
  2. REFINE: In a week, you’ll get your starter serum and the Skin Health Kit in the mail. After using your formula for two weeks, we recommend testing your skin with the kit to measure your skin data and further refine your formula. There’s nothing to send back — all you need is 10 minutes, a phone, and a fresh face. Read more about the testing process here.
  3. ADAPT: Combining your actual skin data with input about your skin goals, diet, lifestyle, and current routine, we calculate the best combination of ingredients to help you achieve your healthiest skin. We’ll continuously tweak your formula and skin report based on your progress, including your monthly Skin Health Kit results and lifestyle factors such as travel, stress, and weather. Your serum stays suited to your skin!

How do I use the Skin Health Kit?

Click here for detailed guidance on how to use the Skin Health Kit. Here are additional tips for ensuring the most accurate test results:

  • For optimal results and consistency, test your skin first thing in the morning, before you start your skincare routine. That means before you rinse or use cleanser, moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, or makeup.
  • If you’ve already washed your face (and can’t do your test in the morning), wait 20-30 minutes before starting your kit.
  • Place the tools on your problem areas so we can most effectively treat those areas. Try to test for oil and moisture on approximately the same location.
  • Gently touch the tools on the skin, with the same pressure you might use to type or draw on a smartphone/tablet display. The amount of pressure you use during the oil test could impact the measurements.

When uploading test results with a smartphone camera, think of it similarly to how you might upload a check for a mobile bank deposit:

  • Place the test strips on the backside of the Skin Health Kit for consistent background.
  • Make sure the grey circular part of the test is focused and well-lit. Natural light is best.
  • Match the yellow line on your test with the one provided on the app overlay. Pinch or spread with two fingers to zoom and resize the photo, and use two fingers to rotate to align as needed. Keep the circular outline of your tool slightly smaller and within the app overlay.
  • Do not edit the photos. The scanner needs to detect the exact colors from the background and outside the test ring.
  • If you are using a laptop or tablet, select the photo that looks the most like the pattern on your test.
